MISS University of Zimbabwe, Karen Katsande, visited Chigomo in Mt Hampden and donated clothes as part of her charity work.
The young beauty combined forces with UK-based fashionista Yvonne Yvette and blogger King Solomon to donate clothes, sanitary pads and food hampers at Chigomo.

The food hampers, clothes and sanitary pads came through the Yvonne Yvette Foundation whose aim is to help less privileged boys and girls in Zimbabwe.
Karen said growing up, with a single parent, has made her dedicate her personal time to bonding with the children, offering them hope, love and encouragement.
“As a young upcoming philanthropist, my initiative is mostly based on my background, I grew up with a single mother and I didn’t get as many things as I wanted but I learnt to understand the value and importance of life and understand the value of what life holds.
“I got adequate education and my mother made sure, in any means possible, that I got in the right direction,” said Karen.

For Fashionista Yvonne Yvette the campaign was a call to do more.
Together with her partners in the UK, Yvonne Yvette has pledged to continue with their helping hand on the less privileged children in Zimbabwe.
“It’s amazing how this joint venture has brought so many smiles to the children in Chigomo, i partnered with King Solomon after seeing what he was doing and i am happy to see that we have impacted on these lives.
“I managed to raise US$1 000 through my foundation and we bought the bails and pads for distribution to the children,” said Yvette.
She said her campaign will spread to various remote parts of the country.
“Our campaign was aiming at every child not just the girl child as we have noted that the boy child was being neglected hence we are trying to ensure that our beneficiaries include the boy child.
“We hope to do more campaigns as a team and improve our communities for the better,” she said.

Solomon has donated over 50k pads through his social media campaigns.
“Thank you so much to the Yvonne Yvette Foundation for supporting less privileged kids in Zimbabwe and from now onwards we are going to donate to girls and boys.
“Ndatoona kuti it’s cheaper and wiser to buy mabhero, anobatsira a large number,” he said.
Last month, Miss UZ visited Mt Hampden Children’s Home for a donation where she also nurtured and uplifted the spirits of the children.
The beauty queen also shed light on the importance of caring for the most vulnerable members of society.
