Cheetahs leave for Hong Kong

afternoon for the Hong Kong leg of the World Sevens Rugby Series.
The Cheetahs have been drawn in Pool F of the competition where they are expected to take on sixth seeds Australia in their opening game of the three-day tournament.
Argentina and Canada complete Pool F with the Cheetahs game against Argentina coming in as the second while a date against the Canadians will round up the group games.
Zimbabwe are one of the 24 teams that are expected to take part at the Hong Kong leg of the International Rugby Board Sevens that starts on Friday.
Having camped in the capital for the past week with most of the players also taking part in the Spar Sevens Series, the Cheetahs will train in Hong Kong for three days before taking to the field.
Grant Mitchell was the only player who was dropped from camp with team manager Bruce Hobson saying the main reason for the player’s omission was that they were looking for mobility, especially up-front.
However, the Cheetahs’ main aim is reaching the Cup quarter-finals and they will have to win at least two of their matches in the group stages and this could be a tricky affair for them.
Hobson is banking on the experience and confidence his army gained when they took part in the Dubai and George opening legs of the IRB Sevens Series last year.
It was at these tournaments that Zimbabwe, who are not a core Sevens team, managed to beat some of the big names including Argentina and the United States.
