Cheetahs set to leave for Safaricom Sevens

Sevens Tournament starting tomorrow.
The Cheetahs will travel to the east African country with their second string side, the Goshawks, who are a developmental side.

However, Cheetahs coach Liam Middleton will not be part of the delegation.
Bulawayo based assistant coach Gilbert Nyamutsamba – who has been gaining technical experience with the side as their African mentor – will once again be in charge of the Cheetahs in Kenya.

At least 16 teams are expected to take part in the tournament that was previously known as the Tuskers Sevens and for the first time the event will be held at the spacious Nyayo Stadium. Some of the national teams that are set to take part in the two-day tournament include Zambia, hosts Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda and Spain.

However, Zimbabwe will be missing some of their key players including the German-based duo of Manasah Sita and the prolific Gardner Nechironga while Tafadzwa Chitokwindo will not be able to travel with the side due to educational commitments at Rhodes University in South Africa.
But the Cheetahs have fielded a largely unchanged side to the one that took part at the Middelburg Sevens in South Africa last month and lost to the hosts in the final of the competition.
Teams: Kenya, Samoa, Auckland Vikings, Samurai, Spain, Emerging Springboks, Bristol University, Belmont Shore, Zimbabwe, Goshawks, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Grenoble, British Army, Rwanda.
