ZIMBABWE and the Kenya Morans have secured safe passage into the Safari Sevens knock-outs after convincing wins in their first games of the second day of the tournament at the Nyayo National Stadium this Saturday morning.
The two teams will meet in the group decider, with the winner potentially avoiding defending champions, the Kenya Shujaa, at least until the final.
Zimbabwe beat South African side GEL 7s 24-17, with the Cheetahs putting up a second half masterclass.
Gel 7s rushed to a 12-7 half-time lead, with Carlos Matematema giving Zimbabwe hope with their only try of the half.
However, the Cheetahs then scored three unanswered tries from Kudakwashe Nyamakura, skipper Tapiwa Malenga and winger PK Manyakara.
Unfortunately, Ryan Musumhi missed two of the three conversions but the Cheetahs had done enough to get the all-important win.
This was despite GEL getting the consolation try with the last kick of the game.
Zimbabwe have a couple of hours to rest before the crunch tie against the Kenya Morans.
That match starts at 3:23pm, Zimbabwe time.
