CHEGUTU Pirates piled more misery on Golden Eagles after they inflicted a 2-1 defeat in the ZIFA Northern Region Division One Soccer League match at Pfugajena on Saturday.

The Day Gutu-coached side, which has been experiencing on and off-form, managed to bounce back to winning ways after they were held in last week’s encounter against MWOS in the Mashonaland West derby.

Golden Eagles were coming from a draw against ZRP Harare and their shortcomings continued to be exposed after they were defeated at Pfupajena.

Black Mambas, who won the battle between Police outfits when they beat ZRP Harare 1-0, returned to the apex of the log standings as Harare City were restricted to a 1-all draw by Ngezi Platinum U-19.

“Warumwa Warumwa”, as Black Mambas are affectionately known, now have a two-point advantage going into Week 22.

The battle between seasoned mentors saw Arthur “Tuts” Tutani’s Shamva Mine settle for a share of spoils against Bigboy Mawiwi’s Come Again.

In the ZIFA Eastern Region Division One League FC Wangu Mazodze were dealt a major blow after they were defeated by Bikita Minerals 1-0.

The Masvingo based side moved to second position after Tenax managed to win 2-1 against Chiredzi Stars. The prisons outfit took their points tally to 41 through 18 matches as FC Wangu Mazodze is on 39 points after 19 matches.
