Chelsea easily beats Arsenal

Chelsea comfortably beat Arsenal to reach the Capital One Cup fifth round as Cesar Azpilicueta and Juan Mata scored in each half.
Azpilicueta gave Chelsea the lead after an Arsenal corner, breaking forward to latch onto Carl Jenkinson’s poor header back and poking in.
Aaron Ramsey fired a shot wide from 25 yards as Arsenal struggled to get a grip on the game.
Mata sealed victory after the hour mark with a sweet strike from 20 yards.

Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger had earlier on emphasised the importance of the game as the team have gone eight years without a trophy, but they are finally showing signs of once again becoming major players in the race for the sport’s top prizes.

They hold a two-point lead over second-placed Chelsea in the Premier League after seven wins in an eight-match unbeaten run and Wenger believes Arsenal’s clash with Jose Mourinho’s men at the Emirates Stadium provides another chance to underline their improvement this season.
“We haven’t won the title for a few years and people question that now,” Wenger said. — BBC Sport/AFP.
