HIGHLY rated Chelsea forward Shumaira Mheuka has been nominated for the English Premier League 2 Player of the Season Award following an impressive campaign with the London club’s development side.
Mheuka, the son of former Zimbabwe Saints striker Malcolm Mheuka, who is now based in the United Kingdom, is among eight players shortlisted for the prestigious accolade.
The young Zimbabwean talent has continued to rise through the ranks at Chelsea and is regarded as one of the club’s brightest prospects.
Also nominated for the award are Farhaan Ali Wahid (Fulham), Logan Briggs (Leicester City), Braidem Graham (Everton), Harrison Murray-Campbell (Chelsea), Kian Noble (Manchester City) and George Pickford (Everton).
The nominees were selected by the Premier League’s Football Development Panel.
Premier League 2 is England’s top development and reserve competition, featuring elite Under-21 sides from leading clubs across the country.
Mheuka’s nomination is another major milestone in his growing football career and further highlights the increasing impact of Zimbabwean talent on the international stage.
