ZIMBABWE beat Ireland 1-0 in the T20I series at Harare Sports Club last night after rains forced a no result.

Zimbabwe, who batted first, were on 142/6 at the end of the 18 allotted overs and Ireland could not bat after rains pounded the facility.

After a wait of almost an hour, the umpires declared that play could not resume and gave a no result verdict leaving Zimbabwe 1-0 winners.

Ireland who won the one-off Test series, lost 2-1 in the ODIs.

The first T20I was abandoned on Saturday and on Sunday Zimbabwe, inspired by Tony Munyonga’s 43 runs, won the second by three wickets leaving a battle royale on the cards on the third and final match in a tie Ireland fought for a draw and Zimbabwe for a 2-0 win.

Sikandar Raza top-scored with 34 runs last night.
