THE stage is set at Queens Sports Club where Zimbabwe’s Chevrons will be looking to clinch the three-match Twenty20 International series with a game to spare when they face Bangladesh in the second T20I on Friday afternoon.
The hosts carry a 1-0 advantage into today’s encounter after producing a clinical all-round performance in Wednesday’s opener, and another victory will hand Sikandar Raza’s side an unassailable lead and complete yet another successful series against the tourists.
Zimbabwe’s pace attack was the difference two days ago, with Player of the Match Richard Ngarava and Blessing Muzarabani ripping through Bangladesh’s batting line-up. The fast-bowling duo shared eight wickets as the visitors were dismissed for 138, handing Zimbabwe a convincing 32-run victory after defending 170.
There is a relaxed but focused atmosphere around Queens Sports Club this morning as both teams goes through their warm-up routines ahead of what promises to be another exciting contest.
For Bangladesh, today’s match is a must-win affair. Defeat will end any hopes of claiming the T20I series, while victory will level matters and force a decider at the same venue on Sunday.
Zimbabwe, however, have the opportunity to continue what has been an impressive home campaign against the visitors. The Chevrons have already won the one-off Test by an innings and 85 runs before taking the three-match One-Day International series 2-1 in Harare.1
A series-clinching victory this afternoon would see Zimbabwe maintain their dominance over Bangladesh across all three formats.
Play is scheduled to start at 12.30pm.
