ZIMBABWE Cricket’s preparations to co-host the 2027 ICC Cricket World Cup have been boosted by the renewal of their partnership with next-generation financial services platform, Mukuru.
Mukuru, who have been the Chevrons’ shirt sponsors for all formats since 2024, reaffirmed their commitment to the game by extending the partnership until December 2027.
ZC Managing Director Givemore Makoni welcomed the renewal, describing it as a significant endorsement of the game’s continued growth and ambitions.
“We are delighted to extend our partnership with Mukuru, a proudly African brand that shares Zimbabwe Cricket’s vision for growth, excellence, and meaningful community impact,” he said.
According to ZC, the extension marks the next chapter in Mukuru and the association’s shared Road to the World Cup, creating new opportunities to engage fans, celebrate Zimbabwean excellence, and inspire communities as the country prepares to co-host the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2027.
Zimbabwe is set to host the 50-over World Cup next year alongside neighbours South Africa and Namibia. The quadrennial tournament will feature 14 teams and will run from October 4 to November 27 next year.
South Africa will host the bulk of the matches with 41 games slotted in the country, while Zimbabwe will host at least 10 matches spread across Harare Sports Club, Queens Sports Club, and the Victoria Falls Mosi-oa-Tunya International Cricket Stadium, which is currently under construction. Namibia will handle three matches.
Makoni said the marriage with Mukuru was crucial for ZC. Under the renewed agreement, Mukuru will continue as the front-of-jersey sponsor of the Zimbabwe Senior Men’s National Cricket Team across all international formats.
“Their continued support comes at a defining moment for Zimbabwean cricket as we build towards hosting the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup in 2027.
“This renewed commitment gives us confidence to continue investing in the game, strengthening our national teams and creating memorable experiences for our supporters, while showcasing Zimbabwe on one of cricket’s biggest stages,” said Makoni.
Mukuru spokesperson Kevin Nyakotyo said the renewal reflects the company’s belief in the power of sport to unite communities, foster national pride, and create lasting connections.
“This renewal is about more than sponsorship visibility. It is about investing in a partnership that brings communities together, celebrates Zimbabwean excellence, and creates meaningful connections with fans,” Nyakotyo said.
“As Zimbabwe prepares to co-host the 2027 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, we are excited to continue working alongside Zimbabwe Cricket.
“The Road to the World Cup presents a unique opportunity to inspire the next generation of cricketers, deepen fan engagement, and strengthen the bond between Zimbabweans at home and across the diaspora.
“Zimbabwe has been part of Mukuru’s story for more than two decades, and this partnership reflects our confidence in the country’s future.
“Cricket has a unique ability to unite people across borders, aligning perfectly with Mukuru’s purpose of connecting communities through trusted financial services.”
