THE Chevrons will be hoping for a solid top order performance as they take on Namibia in the third of a five-match T20 International cricket series at the Wanderers Cricket Club in Windhoek this afternoon.
Sikandar Raza’s heroics with the bat earned Zimbabwe a nail-biting five wicket win in Wednesday’s second match in which victory was secured via a four off the last ball.
Despite being sent in to bat, Namibia posted 198/3 in their 20 overs and even put up 108 for the first wicket in nine overs.
Zimbabwe’s bowlers have only taken six Namibian wickets in two matches so far.
However, the bigger problem has been at the top of batting where the first wicket fell for 0 in the opening match and while they put 32 in the second game, the run rate was too low for the big target and also compared to the Namibians.
Zimbabwe were 61/2 after 10 overs while chasing 199 in the second match compared to Namibia’s 109/1 while in the first match the Chevrons were 50/4 batting first and the Namibians had reached 82/2 chasing a mere 122.
