AFTER a historic Test win against Afghanistan, Zimbabwe Cricket team will be hoping to carry on with the momentum as they shift their focus to the short version of the white-ball format starting tomorrow.
The two sides will clash in three T20I matches scheduled for October 29, 31 and November 2 at Harare Sports Club.
The three match series is part of preparations for next year’s T20 World Cup to be hosted by India and Sri Lanka.
“The transition should be very smooth and we’re not worried about the transition.
“It’s a format that Zimbabwe plays quite a lot and it’s a format that we are going to play a lot since there’s a World Cup round the corner as well.
“Now that we’ve managed to win the qualifiers and we’re now ready for the World Cup, every series that we play now is certainly going to play a huge role in getting the combinations right and the roles clarity as well,” said Zimbabwe T20 captain Sikandar Raza.
The Chevrons T20 captain is confident the charges can carry on with the winning momentum going into the three match series and compliment their historic performance in the red ball format against the same opponents.
“If you look at our record, I think we might be sitting on five out of 12 wins.
“… Unfortunately, we just haven’t been able to close a series as well.
“But I think we made a lot of good strides in the right direction as well. So we keep on banking on those strides and hopefully the tide will turn and we’ll be able to close the series sooner rather than later,” said Raza.
