PRESIDENT Mnangagwa has extended the state of disaster declared over degraded river ecosystems to January 28, 2027, giving authorities and approved contractors more time to complete rehabilitation works on rivers damaged by mining activities.
The extension, contained in Statutory Instrument 173 of 2026 published in the Government Gazette this Thursday, follows a determination that the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Riverine Ecosystems Rehabilitation has not yet been satisfied that ongoing works are complete.
