BRIAN Bennett won his second player-of-the match on the trot as the Chevrons completed a series win over Namibia in their three-match Twenty20I duels at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo yesterday.
The opener was the outstanding player in the first match, in which the Chevrons piled on more than two hundred runs on Monday, and won the same award yesterday as the hosts powered to a five-wicket win.
His fellow opener Tadiwanashe Marumani hit a half-century as the Chevrons won the serieswith a match to spare.
Marumani struck two fours and three sixes, and laid the foundation for his team to chaseNamibia’s total of 169-6.
Bennett got a quick-fire 40 and Marumani scored his third consecutive T20I fifty.
The hosts were comfortable at 115-2 but there was a wobble and the Chevrons found themselves at 128-4.
However, they eased their nerves to complete the victory with five wickets to spare.
Ryan Burl had to pull out a timely cameo after the openers set it up.
Zimbabwe lost a few wickets in the middle but Burl showed his class and Tashinga Musekiwa came out to put the finishing touches.
Namibia would have loved a few runs more with the bat as 170 never looked enough on a flat track. Jan Loftie-Eaton top-scored for the visitors with 47 runs from 30 balls while Malan Kruger contributed 45 runs.
Richard Ngarava took 2-25, Brad Evans took 2-25 and there were wickets for Sikanda Raza and Tinotenda Maposa. — Sports Reporter/Cricbuzz
