Nelia, the widow of legendary musician John Chibadura, firmly believes that her late husband’s legacy can be preserved.
She emphasised that her children − Simba, Knowledge and John Chibadura Junior − are doing their best despite facing significant resource challenges.
“My children are incredibly talented, but the lack of resources has been our biggest obstacle,” she stated.
“While the boys have the potential to excel, we struggle with transportation for their instruments, which is essential for travelling to show venues. Of course, they have what it takes to be among the elite, but when resources are scarce, as they are now, we remain stagnant.”
Nelia appealed for support from well-wishers to help ensure that Chibadura’s legacy lives on.
“My kids are exceptionally talented, and I see their father in them, which makes me realise that we can achieve great things if we rally behind them. I am grateful for these blessings, and my wish is for them to continue carrying their father’s legacy forward.”
Nelia also expressed her gratitude for the support they received from Tendai Mbofana of Ngoda Granite, who donated a tombstone for Chibadura. She noted that, even 27 years after his passing, the legendary artist still has devoted supporters.
John Chibadura’s widow believes that the late musician’s legacy can be maintained.
“I feel relieved when people still recognise us many years after my husband’s death. To be honest, I have never felt as loved as I do today. I will always cherish the good moments we had together and the legacy that still lives on,” she emphasised.
Nelia is optimistic that her sons are determined to shine. Despite their lack of resources, Simba, Knowledge, and John Chibadura Junior are doing their best in music. “My children are super talented, but the lack of resources has been our biggest enemy,” she stressed. “The boys are equally talented, but they don’t have transportation for their instruments, which is needed for them to travel to and from show venues. Of course, they have what it takes to be among the elite, but when resources are scarce, we remain stuck.”
