Chibaya releases debut solo album

By Richmore Tera
FORMER Mahendere Brothers band member Lenny Chibaya has released his debut solo album “Kuita Kwashe” that exhibits his great artistry on the microphone.
The eight-track album, released at Revival Studios and produced by Forward Mazaruse, is laden with songs that aim at bringing the listener closer to God.
Chibaya (32), who is a member of Victory International Church and started his music career in the AFM church, said his mission as an artiste is to help people appreciate God’s omnipotent power and urge them to repent while time is still ripe.
“People should fear God and praise Him, not themselves,” said Chibaya.
The album opens with the track “Tichaenda Kudenga” in which people are reminded that they can only see the kingdom of heaven if they respect God and follow in His ways.
“Taurai” is a plea to God to intervene and deliver people from travails, while “Kubata Kwenyu” takes this message further by praising the good works.
How God’s grace shines brightly like a beacon when all seems to be bleak is the message carried in the track “Mwari Muri Zuva Redu”.
“Tinomutenda” is a praise song while “You Are My God” is self-explanatory and explains how someone delights in being identified as a child of God.
“Vakundi” and “Moyo Wangu” are some of the songs carried on the album.
Chibaya was born on June 27, 1979 in Chitungwiza where he started his professional music career in 2003 as a member of the Mahendere Brothers outfit.
He later joined Ruth Mapfumo in 2006 before going solo.
