THE Chibuku Super Cup has officially kicked into gear, with the preliminary round completed mid-week and first-round action set for this weekend.

Zimbabwe’s richest and most prestigious knockout tournament, boasting a total prize purse of US$375 000, is now heating up, as top teams eye silverware and continental qualification.

The journey to this year’s final began earlier in the week with two tightly contested preliminary ties. On Wednesday, Dynamos edged Yadah 4–3 on penalties at Ngoni Stadium after a tense goalless draw, booking their spot in the first round.

A day later, Triangle United beat Kwekwe United 1–0 at Mandava Stadium, completing the 16-team line-up for the round of 16.

With the preliminary dust settled, attention has now shifted fully to the first round, which will kick off tomorrow, and will continue on Sunday.

Saturday will see Dynamos face Simba Bhora at Wadzanayi Stadium, while CAPS United have a potentially tricky assignment against MWOS at Ngoni Stadium in Norton.

FC Platinum play host to Manica Diamonds at Mandava Stadium in what is shaping up to be one of the weekend’s biggest clashes. TelOne will go head-to-head with Bikita Minerals at Ascot Stadium, as GreenFuel take on Scottland in another round-one fixture.

However, not all teams will take to the field this weekend.

The Premier Soccer League has postponed two fixtures, ZPC Kariba vs Chicken Inn and Herentals vs Highlanders, due to the unavailability of Nyamhunga Stadium, which will host Kariba District Heroes Day commemorations. The league has confirmed that new dates and venues will be communicated in due course.

First Round Fixtures:

Tomorrow

Simba Bhora vs Dynamos (Wadzanayi Stadium, MWOS vs Caps United (Ngoni Stadium)
Scottland vs GreenFuel, TelOne vs Bikita Minerals (Ascot Stadium), FC Platinum vs Manica Diamonds (Mandava Stadium)

Sunday

Ngezi Platinum vs Triangle United (Baobab Stadium) Scottland v Bikita Minerals (Sakubva Stadium)
