GOSPEL and Afro-Jazz musician Vuyo Brown has been unveiled as one of the performers at this year’s VoMwenje Festival, scheduled for Harare on October 31.

Curated by contemporary Jazz musician Mwenje Mathole, the festival will bring together a diverse line-up of artistes, including Victor Kunonga, Hope Masike, Shami Tuku, Agga Nyabinde, Josh Meck, Alexio Kawara, Prince Avalon, Mbeu, Emanuel Nota, Chanda, and saxophonist Denilson Musekiwa.

Established in 2025, the festival is built around themes of love, illumination, healing and hope. Its name, VoMwenje, translates to “People of the Light”, drawing from the Shona word mwenje, which means light or torch.

Mathole has positioned the festival as a platform for creative expression, unity and the promotion of Ubuntu, bringing people together through music and shared cultural experiences.

The second edition also builds on Mathole’s musical project, VoMwenje: Better Must Come, an album that explores Zimbabwean heritage and the everyday struggles faced by ordinary people.

The festival seeks to bring the album’s message to life through live performances, offering audiences an opportunity to engage with its themes of hope, resilience and collective progress.
