Chibuku Cup final for Gibbo Stadium

THE Chibuku Super Cup final between Harare City and Triangle United has been slated for Gibbo Stadium next Saturday where defending champions, City, will be seeking to lift it for the third time since 2014.

In a statement yesterday, the Premier Soccer League confirmed that the final would be at Gibbo Stadium.

“The Chibuku Super Cup final match between Harare City FC and Triangle United FC will be played at Gibbo Stadium, Triangle on Saturday 10 November 2018,” read the PSL statement.

To get to the final, the defending champions beat Bulawayo City 1-0 in the first round, booted Bulawayo giants Highlanders 2-1 in the quarterfinals and handed Caps United a similar scoreline in the semi-finals while Triangle United got their campaign underway with a 4-1 penalty win over Shabanie Mine in the first round.

They hammered Nichrut 4-1 in the quarter-finals to set up a semi-final duel against Harare giants, Dynamos, who they dumped out of the tournament 2-1 with first half goals at Rufaro Stadium in an ill-tempered encounter that had DeMbare hooligans stoning assistant referee, Salani Ncube.

While Harare City will be seeking a third triumph in the tournament, Triangle United coach Taurayi Mangwiro who was in charge of the Sunshine City boys when they beat Dynamos in the 2015 final, is relishing the opportunity of winning the silverware for the second time.

Winners of the silverware will get $75 000 while the losing finalist will bank $50 000.
