IT’S the big one tomorrow and music fans in Highfield could be in for a treat when the Chibiku Road To Fame national finals roll into Gwanzura.

The stage for the climatic event of the country’s premier music talent search has been set and this year it’s a special one as the Chibuku Road to Fame is celebrating its Golden Jubilee.

Winky D, Killer T, Saintfloew and Feli Nandi have also been roped in to perform during the after party.

Ten up-and-coming bands, selected from the country’s 10 provinces, will battle it out for the US$15,000 grand prize, which also includes a recording contract.

The runners-up will get US$10,000 while the group which finishes third will get US$7,000.

Organisers Delta Corporation have promised to deliver a show which befits Golden Jubilee celebrations.

“The competitions have continued to deliver thrilling performances and showcase emerging talent, we are geared for the finals on Saturday.

“This year marks a special milestone as the event celebrates 25 years of discovering and nurturing talent, in partnership with the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe (NACZ).

“The grand finale will feature performances from the competing groups as well as renowned guest artists, promising an unforgettable day,” said Delta Corporation marketing manager, Irimayi Muzorewa.

It seems Afro-fusion has continued to grow and is becoming a beloved genre after eight upcoming bands made it to this year’s Chibuku Road To Fame finals.

The broad musical genre, which fuses different African music styles with other global sounds, has become something that is dominating the Zimbabwean entertainment industry.

At least, two Afro-fusion groups have won the national finals in recent years with Kweseka Band having won last year and 9-1-1 Band winning in 2023.

This year’s 10 finalists are Core Vibes (Midlands), All in One Mash West), Simuniziva (Mat North), Dab Band (Bulawayo), Bolamba Culture Birds (Mat South), Afro Pulse (Masvingo), Mnenga Band (Manicaland), Jungle Foxes (Mash East), Chitima Band (Harare) and DNA Band (Mash Central).
