UPCOMING traditional music outfit, Chashe, will represent Harare at the Chibuku Road to Fame finals slated for October 1.
Chashe earned the spot after shrugging off competition from a host of other entries at Warren Park 1 Bar over the weekend.
Speaking just after her triumph, Chashe told H-Metro that she will not be at the finals to just add numbers.
“I am happy to represent Harare at the finals for the first time, it’s an honour for me and the band.
“This is one of the platforms that I have been waiting for, to prove myself, and I promise not to just add the numbers but to fight for the crown,” said Chashe.
Mufakose’s Ocean Waves came second while ZCM Ensemble were voted third.
The finals, which return after a two-year sabbatical, have been scheduled for the Glamis Arena.
Organisers, Delta Corporation, say this year’s finals competition will include iconic flashback scenes as the Chibuku brand celebrates 60 years of its existence.
A number of exciting activities have been lined up, including top acts, which will perform during the after party.
Groups, which have already qualified for a dance at the finals, include Orchestra Zealous from Bulawayo, Expressions Band (Manicaland), Hi-Five (Mash Central), Thokozani Supersounds (Mat South) and The Originals (Mash East).
The provincial finals are also yet to be done in Mash West, Bulawayo, Masvingo and in the Midlands.
