BLACK RHINOS coach Herbert Maruwa says his team’s performance this season warrants some silverware.
He is already targeting to win the Chibuku Super Cup after falling behind in the championship race.
His club go into the hat in the quarter-final draw of the country’s biggest knockout tournament today in Harare.
The quarter-finals will be played next weekend.
“I think we have had a very good season but we have done ourselves a huge disservice after failing to maintain a reasonable gap between ourselves and leaders CAPS United,” said Maruwa.
“We are pushing for a top four finish, maybe. There is nothing much we can now do in the league than winning our own games and pushing for a strong finish.
“But, I feel that we are enjoying a good season and deserve to win something.
“That something should be the Chibuku Super Cup. It is winnable and in the form we are in, I strongly feel we have the pedigree to win it.
“But this is a cup competition, it is very unpredictable, any team we are going to be drawn against will always be tough.
“Each of the eight teams in the quarter-finals is, obviously, good enough to lift the cup.”
Highlanders, Manica Diamonds, Triangle, FC Platinum, Ngezi Platinum Stars, ZPC Kariba and Harare City are the other teams who will go into the hat for the quarter-final draw.
But Maruwa has some league business to worry about before his charges play in the Chibuku Super Cup quarter-finals next week.
His men take on relegation-threatened Herentals at the National Sports Stadium tomorrow.
The leading trio of CAPS United, Chicken Inn and FC Platinum will only be in action next week.
