Chicken Inn clobber Blue Rangers

Thabani Goredema opened the floodgates for Chicken Inn with a left-foot volley which hit the roof of the net in the fourth minute after getting to the end of an Evans Chikwaikwai long throw-in.

Thomas Chimenya scored a brace in the game and he got his first goal in the eighth minute and completed his double two minutes later after rounding Blue Rangers’ goalkeeper Pedzisai

Gumiremhete. Chimenya has scored three goals in two matches as he was on target when Chicken Inn held FC Platinum to a 1-1 draw last weekend.

Former Njube Sundowns defender Brian Mbiriri made it four in the 14th minute with a powerful grounder in the box. Gumiremhete should shoulder the blame for Chicken Inn’s fourth goal as he unnecessarily went for a ball with open foot on Chikwaikwai but the striker evaded the tackle.

Referee Nkosana Nduna rightfully cautioned the goalkeeper and Chicken Inn got an indirect freekick inside the penalty box which Mbiriri converted after being set up by Kudakwashe Mahachi.
Mahachi, the national Under-20 star made it five for the fast-foods outlets sponsored club when he connected a square ball from Moses Jackson who had broken the visitors’ off-side trap.

Blue Rangers who controlled the better part of the game but failed to utilise their dominance got their consolation goal from substitute Talent Munetsi who beat Chicken Inn’s goalkeeper Liberty Chirava with a grounder from the edge of the box.

Adam Ndlovu, the Chicken Inn gaffer blasted his boys for sitting back after getting four goals.

“I would have been happy had we scored eight or more goals because we had an opportunity to bury those guys. Before the game I told the boys not to underrate Blue Rangers because these clubs in the relegation zone are dangerous,” said Ndlovu.

Chicken Inn had started the game a better side and they could have taken a third minute lead through Tendai Ndoro. He won possession in his box, charged towards the visitors’ side, dribbled past Charles Manjera but shot wide with only Gumiremhete to beat.

After getting the four goals, Blue Rangers took the game away from Chicken Inn but found the Felix ‘Basic Finest’ Chindungwe marshaled defence watertight.

Blue Rangers’ gaffer Patson Ndabambi blamed the defeat on poor defending.

“The first 15 minutes were a disaster for us and that is when we conceded four goals. Our strategy coming into the game was to maintain our back four but we were found wanting on the left side of defence because our left back was overlapping. We tried coming back into the game but it was rather too late,” said Ndabambi.
