Black Rhinos 0-1 Chicken Inn
HAVING turned Rimuka into a fortress last year, Black Rhinos have become defenceless at home this season and slumped to another Castle Lager Premiership defeat at home yesterday. Former Motor Action talisman Clement Matawu’s solitary goal in the 35th minute was enough to sink Rhinos who have lost their consistency compass.
And, with every defeat, the pressure piled on coach Arthur Tutani.
The Rhinos defenders should shoulder the blame for such a soft goal when they allowed a Passmore Bernard cross to roam their area and Matawu nodded home the priceless goal.
Rhinos could have grabbed an equaliser, which would have been due reward for their efforts, but Trevor Ajana’s shot from a dead ball, just outside the box, crashed against the cross bar in the 47th minute.
Chicken Inn had the luxury of missing a penalty in the 61st minute through their captain, Zimbabwe international midfielder Danny Phiri, whose spot kick was brilliantly saved by Rhinos ‘keeper Herbert Rusawo.
Harare referee Nomore Masundire pointed to the spot after Bruce Homora had brought down Ishmael Lawe in the box.
Rhinos can look back to the chance missed by Martin Mine, after just seven minutes of the game, as a pivotal moment in this match.
“We missed a lot of chances and got punished, it’s now a tall order for us to climb up so that we are not relegation candidates,” said Tutani
Joey Antipas, the Chicken Inn coach, was a happy man after three big points on the road.
“I am happy to collect maximum points as of late we have been drawing games which saw us throwing away crucial points,” said Antipas.
