AS the 2025 Castle Lager Premier Soccer season draws near, Chicken Inn and Greenfuel are intensifying their preparations and face off in a closed-door training match at Luveve Stadium tomorrow.
Chicken Inn head coach Joey Antipas is looking forward to assessing his squad and refining player combinations.
“Our pre-season preparations have been progressing well, and this will be our first pre-season match. I think this will help us to solidify our player combinations,” Antipas said.
Antipas acknowledged that the team has largely maintained its squad, except for Malvin Hwata’s move to Simba Bhora.
Greenfuel coach Taurai Mangwiro outlined ambitious plans to elevate his team’s performance, with the goal of achieving improved results.

“We observed that our conversion rate was poor on the road, and we hope to improve on that. We want to ensure that we finish in a better position on the log, as we were in a precarious position for most of last season,” Mangwiro said.
To address these issues, Mangwiro has made significant additions to the squad, including the Chikwende brothers, Perfect and Emmanuel, as well as Collin Mujuru and Ronald Chitiyo from Nyasa Bullets of Malawi. Marlon Mushonga from Yadah has also joined the team.

Mangwiro emphasised the importance of a strong start to the season, given the challenging nature of Greenfuel’s opening fixtures.
“In our opening matches, three are at home and two are on the road. None of the games look easy. We have to be at our best to salvage points,” Mangwiro said.
Greenfuel will face CAPS United, Ngezi Platinum Stars, Highlanders, Bikita Minerals, and Yadah in their opening five matches. —@FungaiMuderere
