THERE was a goal harvest Duliba- dzimu yesterday where Chicken Inn made light work of relegation-bound Tripple B in a Castle Lage Premiership soccer match.
Despite the match being played under hot conditions of 45 degrees Celsius, which is Tshintsha Magiya’s favourite, the home team failed to rise to the occasion as they were hammered by the visitors from Bulawayo.
Yesterday’s match was played under a virtually empty stadium as Tripple B succumbed to their second heavy defeat at home this season after losing 0-5 to Triangle a fortnight ago.
The match started off at a high pace with Chicken Inn making clear their intentions of grabbing maximum points, putting the home side’s rearguard under some immense pressure.
The Tripple defence had a hard time trying to contain a Chicken Inn strike-force led by Clemence Matawu, Tendai Ndoro and Mkhokheli Dube.
And it came as no surprise when Moses Jackson opened the scoring scored for the visitors in the 21st minute finishing off Dube’s cross.
Two minutes later, Dube extended his side’s lead when he found the target with a powerful drive after capitalising on Tripple B defenders’ failure to clear the ball out of danger.
Thabani Goredema nearly made it three for the Gamecocks in 31st minutes but his header was calmly collected by Gilbert Chigwandaza.
Things went from bad to worse for the home side in the 35th minute when the fast-paced Matawu beat a Tripple B defender to the ball before firing the it past Chigwandaza.
From this moment onwards the home team defence went into panic mode losing possession unnecessarily and were fortunate that the Chicken Inn strikers were wasteful in front of the goal.
However, Ndoro sealed Tshintsha Magiya’s fate when he struck for Chicken Inn in the 52nd minute, resulting in the few home team supporters who had come to the stadium walking away.
Ndoro’s goal forced Tripple B coach Peter Manoti to make three substitutions in the 53rd minute, bringing in Rainsome Pavari, Makai Kawashu and Shepherd Sithole for Simon Maengeni, Ali Kazembe and Timire Mamvura respectively.
Lloyd Chiwaridzo scored Tripple B’s consolation goal in the 69th minute after Shepherd Sithole had been fouled by Felix Chindungewe near the 18 yard box.
In a post-match interview Tshintsha Magiya gaffer Manoti said his charges had conceded four silly goals.
“We have been relegated and we have used this match to test some of our youthful players as we seek a quick comeback to the top-flight league next season,” he said.
Chicken Inn coach Joey Antipas said his team had played according to plan and they deserved to win.
“We played well and collected the maximum points. Our target is to win our last two games,” he said.
