Chicken Inn 2-FC Platinum 2
CHICKEN INN super-substitute Tendai Mukambi was the toast of the day when he nodded home two spectacular goals inside 10 minutes to level the score against FC Platinum in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match played at Luveve Stadium yesterday.
The start of the match was however, delayed by 32 minutes as there were no match officials with match commissioner Ndaba Ncube claiming the officials were delayed despite one of them Allen Bhaswi being spotted at the Bantu Rovers/Dynamos match at Babourfields Stadium earlier on.
“We had to start late because the referees delayed, for more details you can call my boss Marume,” said Ncube.
When play finally started FC Platinum were dictating the pace with Walter Musona and Wisdom Mutasa commanding the midfield.
“We lost the match in the midfield, youngsters Musona and Mutasa had a free reign,” said Antipas.
The visitors scored through exciting Musona in the 19th minute after a schoolboy defending blunder by Chicken Inn defender Charles Mutero.
Mutero gave too much room to Michel Katsvairo to cross to Musona who made no mistake with his right foot that gave Liberty Chirava in goals for Chicken Inn no chance.
In the 66th minute FC Platinum bustling striker Donald Ngoma added misery to the home team when he scored a screamer after shrugging off Ben Nyahunzi’s challenge in the box to make it 2-0.
Chicken Inn gaffer Antipas reacted swiftly by introducing dribbling wizard George Majika in the 71st minute for the disappointing Bhekimpilo Ncube who was chasing shadows .
Majika’s introduction changed the complexion of the game with the tireless Clemence Matawu taking the game to the visitors and combining well with Majika in the middle of the park.
The Gamecocks were now venturing more frequently into the FC Platinum goal area and in the 86th minute they were rewarded by a superb goal from Mukandi’s header after connecting a Majika’s cross.
In the 94th minute, Majika switched a cross to Matawu and the diminutive midfielder beat an outdrawn Petros Mhari outside the box before releasing an inviting cross to Mukandi who scored with a free header.
Mutasa blamed his players for losing concentration in central defence.
“We lost it in central defence when my defenders lost concentration unnecessarily. I wonder how we failed to hold on to the 2-0 lead. I am not happy with such a performance. We had total control of the game but we gave away two silly goals,” he said.
