BRIGHTON “BA” MAKOPA turned into a one-man wrecking crew last weekend, smashing home four sensational goals to script a stunning comeback for Chicken Inn against Kwekwe United — and make Premier Soccer League history!
Makopa became the first player this season to score FOUR in a single match, lifting his team from the grave after they went 2-0 down, and dragging them to a dramatic 2-4 win at Bata Stadium.
Talk about turning gold into chicken feed!
Kwekwe United’s Farai Mutatu and Mbongeni Minezhi had put the Gold Boys ahead, but then Ba Makopa unleashed football mayhem, leaving defenders in his wake and netting a masterpiece haul that left fans in disbelief and Chicken Inn coach Joey “Mafero” Antipas doing the victory dance.
“It’s always good to do well for the team,” said the soft-spoken hitman, formerly of Hwange. “It wasn’t an easy game, but we believed.”
Makopa’s show-stopping performance ended Chicken Inn’s four-match winless streak — their last win was way back in April against Dynamos — and reignited their PSL campaign.
The four-goal explosion also added serious heat to a weekend already blazing with 24 total goals, signalling a league that’s now in full throttle mode.
Elsewhere, Brighton “MaNinja” Ncube of Highlanders remains the only player to have netted a hat-trick so far, but Makopa’s feat just raised the bar.
Here’s how the rest of the PSL scoreboard lit up:
Saturday, May 10
MWOS 2-2 TelOne; GreenFuel 0-0 Manica Diamonds; CAPS Utd 1-1 Herentals
Sunday, May 11
ZPC Kariba 2-2 Ngezi Platinum; Bikita Minerals 1-1 Yadah Stars; Scottland 2-0 Simba Bhora; Highlanders 1-1 FC Platinum; Triangle 2-0 Dynamos
