MALVIN Gaki was the star of the show for Chicken Inn as the Gamecocks picked up their third consecutive win, courtesy of a 3-nil mauling of relegation-threatened Bulawayo City at Barbourfields Stadium yesterday. Gaki scored a brace and provided an assist for the third goal to fire second-placed Gamecocks to yet another win.

The result saw them close the gap between them and table-toppers FC Platinum to seven points.

Pure Platinum Play, however, have an opportunity to consolidate their lead when they face Highlanders at Barbourfields this afternoon.

The Gamecocks dominated proceedings from the start and were duly rewarded for their efforts through an eighth-minute goal from Gaki after he was set up by Munashe Pini.

They would double their lead after 40 minutes through Malvin Whata, who showed great composure inside the box to score after Gaki provided the assist.

Gaki got his brace in the 73rd minute.

Chicken Inn coach Antipas, however, said his side did not have a good second half.

“It was a game of two halves in which we dominated the first half but went to sleep in the second,” said Antipas.

“In the second half, we lost our intensity, but the first half was very impressive,” he said.

Bulawayo City coach Farai Tawachera felt his charges were their own worst enemies.

“It is more relegation worries for us,” said Tawachera.

“What pains the most is that we are giving away goals easily, and it’s been like that for the last couple of games.

“We were very slow in the first half, we were not organised and gave them those goals.”

This was City’s fourth defeat on the trot.
