That result saw Chicken Inn becoming the first club to salvage a point against Bosso at Emagumeni.
Former Highlanders player Guide Goddard, who is having a dream season at Chicken Inn, said they were ready to face Bosso.
“City derbies are always difficult and they are self-motivating. Everyone in our camp has been working hard not only for this game but for all the matches. We are ready for Highlanders and I think it will be a good game.
“Bosso are under pressure to return to the top of the log and that might work for us,” said Goddard.
The former national Under-17 star who can also play as a defensive midfielder is likely to form a partnership with Felix Chindingwe at the heart of defence with Brian Mbiriri and Moses Jackson playing as wingbacks.
In the event that Chicken Inn gaffer Adam Ndlovu decides to come with a defensive approach, Goddard might play the role of a holding midfielder with Thabani Goredema, national Under-20 star Kudakwashe Mahachi, Tendai Ndoro, Canaan Nkomo and Makhosi Ncube battling for places.
It is at the strikeforce where Ndlovu is spoilt for choice where he has former Soccer Star of the Year Evans Chikwaikwai, Lenience “Qobho” Mpofu, Thomas “Mahinya” Chimenya and Marshal Marime at his disposal.
Chicken Inn go into Wednesday’s game coming from a one-all away draw against Hwange.
They could have bagged three points but a goalkeeping blunder by the usually reliable Njabulo “Popo” Nyoni in the dying minutes of the game saw Hwange draw level courtesy of a Gilbert Zulu header.
On the other hand, Highlanders are coming from a morale boosting 2-1 victory over Motor Action and Eric “Tsiba” Mudzingwa who played with Goddard at Highlanders from the juniors said they were raring to go.
He said the present Highlanders team had a number of average players driven by the desire to win.
“We are not reading much into our log standing and losing the top spot to Dynamos doesn’t matter to us as long as we continue playing the way we do. We have a lot of fighters in our squad and the good thing is that we fight as a team and the guys do not want to lose.
“As for the game against Chicken Inn, we will take it just like any other game and hope to emerge victors at the end of the day so that we enhance our championship chances,” Mudzingwa said.
Mudzingwa, who is also Highlanders’ vice-captain, had a superb performance when Bosso beat Motor Action on a day when the usually reliable Innocent Mapuranga was out of form.
Milton Ncube might return to action on Wednesday with Bhekimpilo “Bhaka” Ncube expected to pull strings in the midfield that will feature Simon Munawa, national team trialist Peter “Rio” Moyo and Mthulisi Maphosa.
Graham Ncube is fighting for a starting place with Beavan Chikaka.
Meanwhile, FC Platinum come to Bulawayo for the second time this season for a date with relegation-bound Quelaton.
Kugona Kunenge Kudada boys beat the Bulawayo side 2-0 in the first leg.
