NEWBOY Malvern Hwata struck a brace as Chicken Inn resumed their Castle Lager Premier Soccer League championship bid at Luveve Stadium yesterday.

Hwata, who was snatched by the Gamecocks from Cranborne Bullets, found his double before stocky striker Brian Muza sealed victory for the 2015 champions.

“It was a game that we played without our head coach Joey Antipas, who lost his brother. I would say we deserved to do better.

“Anyway, we are still united and focused for more and even better results,” said Chicken Inn assistant coach Prince Matore.

“We are very much grateful for the win. We are very much grateful but we are aiming higher. We will not tire on grinding better results,” Matore said.

The ex-Warriors coach reportedly lost his brother on the eve of their game against Tenax.

Tenax coach Shadreck “Father” Mugurasave conceded defeat.
