TWENTY-FOUR hours after a very low moment in the history of local Premiership football following Caps United’s failure to fulfill their fixture against How Mine at Luveve Stadium, Week Three properly gets underway today with six matches lined up.Bulawayo giants, Highlanders welcome Nation Dube’s winless coal miners, Hwange, to Barbourfields Stadium hoping to continue from where they left last week, at least in terms of collecting maximum points.
Another game penciled for Bulawayo will feature wounded sides Chicken Inn and Tsholotsho at Luveve Stadium.
Iziqholo Zezhwane have been on the spotlight since their promotion and announced their entry into the elite league with a morale boosting 1-0 away win over highly fancied Harare City before bravely holding their own against Bongani Mafu’s Highlanders despite losing 0-1.
Tsholotsho coach Lizwe Sweswe, in a bid to remind the boys that they are still infants despite attracting so much attention from the media, trained in Tsholotsho the whole week and only came to Bulawayo yesterday.
“The boys are not used to this kind of attention and some might be carried away and start behaving in a funny way so we had to go back to where we come from so that they too come back to earth. I’m happy though with the way we prepared and are ready for the game,” said Sweswe.
He said they remained hopeful of surviving relegation. Tsholotsho has a clean bill of health.
Chicken Inn coach Joey Antipas, who led his side to a 0-2 defeat to Harare City last weekend, said he was wary of Tsholotsho.
“Only a fool will take them lightly. The game is really a tricky one but we’re ready, we have done our homework,” he said.
