Chicken Slice opens shop in Gweru

FAST food outlet, Chicken Slice, has opened its first outlet in Gweru.

The branch opened its doors at Park Motors Service Station at corner 9th Street and Robert Mugabe Way on Friday afternoon.

The opening of the outlet has brought excitement to residents in the city.

Ten customers were given free pizzas while some went away with T-Shirts, key holders and discounts upon purchase as part of the festivities.

This is the 10th outlet as the fast food chain is looking at increasing its market share following successful opening of the Bulawayo branch recently.

The opening of the Gweru branch is likely to increase competition in the sector that has long been largely dominated by Innscor through Chicken Inn, Creamy Inn, Pizza Inn and Bakers Inn brands as well as Food Express.

Chicken Slice marketing and public relations manager Bernadette Mutoko-Maunga said plans were underway to open more branches in other smaller towns as part of its expansion.

“We’re pleased to have finally come to Gweru as we’re moving city by city as you’ll recall we recently opened another branch in Bulawayo. We’re moving town by town opening our outlets but at the moment I can’t say really where we’re going to open our next branch,” she said.

Chicken Slice employs over 1, 000 people since it opened its first outlet in 2010 in Mvuma along the Harare-Masvingo Highway.

The brand comprises Chicken Slice, Pizza Slice, Creamy Slice and Slice Express.

In February the company won the fast foods company of the year award during the Zimbabwe Business Council Awards.
