EMMANUEL Chidamahiya is the local chess unsung hero after he moved into 33rd place on the world rankings. The Cape Town-based grandmaster said he is expecting to continue with his good performances in the next matches where he will face a Russian opponent.

Chidamahiya said he is looking forward to doing well and continue to raise the country’s flag high.

“I have always been a chess player as I begun playing at a tender age and I always take the sport seriously,” he said.

Chidamahiya represented Midlands State University as well as Bindura University.

“I believe the record I have set so far will take so many years to beat,” he said.
