VERSATILE musician, actor and choreographer Tendai “Sasa” Chidarikire is unwell.
He checked into a Harare hospital this week after complications with his leg, which developed blood clots.
He has since shared a video on social media, thanking the medical staff for the good service he has been receiving.
“I am here at Avenues receiving treatment on my leg due to blood clot.
“I am happy with the kind of help that I am receiving from doctors, friends, and family,” he posted on his social media handles, receiving positive feedback from fans.
In an interview with Zimpapers Arts and Entertainment Hub, Chidarikire — who has been posting videos announcing his return to showbiz — said he was recuperating well in hospital.
“I have been admitted here in the private ward for the past three days, and I am glad that I am making a lot of progress,” he said.
“My left leg has been giving me problems, and I think it all started after I sat in a long meeting for seven hours, which might have caused this problem.
“Doctors said the condition is called thrombosis, which leads to blood clots, and they are handling the situation pretty well.
“I am looking forward to an early discharge since the condition has been giving me problems.” Chidarikire firmly believes he made the right decision by checking into hospital before things worsened.
“Thrombosis is a complex condition that can affect other parts of the body if not detected and treated early.
“It can spread and affect other parts of the body, like the lungs, if not well managed.
“In my case, I am happy that I have managed to handle this medical condition.”
He also hailed the hordes of followers who have been wishing him a speedy recovery on social media.
“The amount of love exhibited by fans was awesome, and I am glad that their prayers have helped me a lot.
“It was also a marvel seeing this kind of feedback coming from all corners, and I am grateful for their support,” he added.
Better known as Muzezuru, Chidarikire assured fans that he would make a comeback stronger than ever.
“I am one person who loves to dance and sing, which gave me all this fame that I am enjoying today, and I am glad all will go according to plan. My management team is busy planning the launch of our upcoming album, and I have shared one of the songs called ‘Tese’ in my hospital bed.
“I was also shocked by this condition that led to me being hospitalised, because people know me as a physical trainer who loves to dance.”
The Chinhoyi-born artiste, who is also proud of his roots, said he could not resist his love for music and vowed to make an impression when he returns.
“God blessed me with His gift, and I can assure my fans that I will come back stronger than ever,” he boldly declared.
Over the years, he has been alternating between Zimbabwe and South Africa, doing his craft. In South Africa, he established himself in commercials and soapies, including Scandal.
As a versatile artiste, he has explored several music genres, incorporating Kanindo, acapella, soul, and house — especially his album titled “Hona MaUSA”, which is among his rich catalogue of music.
While he also made a name for himself as an actor in South Africa, he showcased his acting talent locally when he featured in Studio 263.
His artistic expertise dates back to 1996, when he was crowned Best Performance Actor by Reps Theatre in Harare.
Chadarikire has been hailed for promoting young talent that has made him stand out from the rest.
Some of his notable productions include “Zezuru” (2000) and “Ndiringe” (2001), which he recorded with the late Tendai Mupfurutsa’s High Density Records. These tracks were instrumental in giving him a national profile.
He went on to release the albums “Tarenda (Never Surrender)” (2002) and “Sasa International” two years later.
The artiste said he has been crediting the late Mupfurutsa, Andy Brown, and Safirio Madzikatire (Mukadota) for helping him venture into music — a move that is now paying off.
