has been with him since his formative years before he moved to Namibia, has proved to be a force to reckon with in sungura music.
The six-track album opens with “Chechero”, a number that’s doing well on Radio Zimbabwe’s Gumi Dzanhasi chart show where it has been on pole position for three consecutive weeks.
“Checheso” is a brilliant song which talks about life’s everyday struggles. If you love your sungura beat then you should listen to the song.
The follow up song is “Ko Zuwi” sung in Silozi which means what’s going on. The beat is heavy on the drum while Chidhuza laces his vocals over an addictive rhythm guitar riffs.
Other songs sung in Silozi are “Haiba Unisaka” and “Ubali Wangu”.
But the question is how did Chidhuza make it in Namibia where only a few understand his music?
Well, you need not to worry. The Sanyati Stars comprise both Zimbabweans and Namibian musicians. You also have to give it to Chidhuza for he was crowned Namibian cultural ambassador as his music appeals to crossover audiences. He has performed at Namibia’s state functions on a number of occasions.
Chidhuza started off as a member of the famed Masvingo Stars back in 1995. The group was fronted by Shadreck Mashanyira, who was mentored by the late Leonard Dembo, and it is little wonder that Chidhuza’s music reminds many of Dembo.
He plays the guitar the way Dembo used to do it although his compositions do not borrow from the Barura Express.
In 1998, Chidhuza formed his group Sanyati Stars and released the album “Mwenga Muroora”. Their first commercial single was “Pfukepfuke”.
In 2004, he relocated to Namibia and since then he has been churning album after album including “Hazvigoni”, “Chirezva” and “Fungiso”.
