South Africa-based seasoned actor Ernest Ndlovu, who is well known for playing King Jama on Mzansi epic series Shaka iLembe, has finally received his certificate of recognition from Chief Dakamela.

Ndlovu, who also stars in Mzansi telenovela House of Zwide as Zechariah, was supposed to receive his award at the second edition of the Imiklomelo kaDakamela (Achievers Awards) held last month in Nkayi. Besides promising to grace the occasion, due to other commitments the thespian could not be part of the event.

Upon receiving his award, Ndlovu who was this week in Bulawayo asked for forgiveness from the chief and his fans and promised to grace next year’s awards ceremony without fail.

“I was invited to the Chief Dakamela Awards which were held last month in Nkayi and agreed to attend but I had other commitments which came my way and I could not attend such a glamorous event. I heard how exciting it was and I can say I missed a lot but I would like to take this time to thank Chief Dakamela for awarding me with this certificate of recognition as well as the rod which I will carry wherever I go.

“May God bless you (Chief Dakamela) and keep you alive for many years to come so that the next generation will learn a thing if not two on how to preserve and cherish our culture just like how you are reviving it through these awards. On the next edition of the ceremony, as long as God is willing and keeping me alive, I promise to be there dark or blue. This will be my way of apologising to my fans who were hopeful to see me at the awards,” said Ndlovu.

On another note, Ndlovu revealed that he was back at House of Zwide. He also said he was working on a project titled Kuse Mpini which is a Showmax production.

“I am working on Kuse Mpini which is my main gig this year. This is the reason why I couldn’t attend the awards because we were shooting.

“The production will be airing on Showmax soon. It’s set-up and thematic concerns are based on the African political sphere.

It’s a very intriguing project and people will love it,” said Ndlovu.
