Chief Marupi loses car, money to robbers …left tied with a rope

Chief Marupi from Gwanda South was left counting his losses after a gang of robbers entered his bedroom and allegedly tied him with a rope before taking his car and more than R1000.
The incident happened today shortly after mid-night and it was reported at Guyu Police Station.
A source close to the incident said the chief arrived at his homestead from a funeral and retired to bed.
“Chief Marupi had attended a funeral in the community and when he returned at home he very tired. The robbers pounced at his home before getting into his bedroom and tied him with a rope and took more than R1000 cash and car keys of his Isuzu Double Cab ,”said the source.
The source added: “They headed to his vehicle and got inside before speeding off.”
Police could not immediately comment on the issue.
