He will be buried tomorrow in Mhondoro-Ngezi.
Local Government, Rural and Urban Development Minister Ignatius Chombo sent a condolence message to the Murambwa clan yesterday.
In a statement, Minister Chombo said he was saddened by Chief Murambwa’s death.
“We have learnt with a heavy heart of the untimely death of Chief Murambwa. On behalf of the Government of Zimbabwe and the ministry I would like to express our heartfelt condolences to the Murambwa clan and the community at large during this time of their greatest loss. His wise counsel and wisdom will be sadly missed.
“It is regrettable that he has departed at a time when the district, province and the nation wanted him the most. He worked relentlessly for the benefit of his community from the local resources,” Minister Chombo said.
He said the chief died at a time when the community had not received Community Share Trust Funds.
He said Government provided US$1700 to assist pay for some expenses.
Mhondoro-Ngezi legislator Cde Bright Matonga said Chief Murambwa’s body would be taken to Mhondoro today.
Chief Murambwa was a businessman before he was appointed chief in 2005.
He was a member of the district lands committee who was very instrumental in resolving conflicts in his area.
Chief Murambwa played a role in resolving land as well as chieftainship boundary disputes.
He witnessed the split of Kadoma District into Sanyati and Mhondoro Ngezi Districts.
He also provided land for the construction of an HIV centre known as Simbarashe.
Chief Murambwa is survived by a wife, seven children and 15 grandchildren.
