Chief Mutasa supports 11 remote schools

ELEVEN disadvantaged schools in very remote parts of Mutasa District have received laptops, sanitary wear and rice for Early Childhood Development [ECD] feeding programmes from Chief Senator James Mutasa.
The donation, sourced from digital services company NetOne, forms part of an ambitious education sector development drive led by the traditional leader within his area of jurisdiction. The long-term aim is to equip all 11 schools with at least six laptops each.
At Chief Mutasa’s Court today, each of the 11 headmasters received a laptop, a 50kg bag of rice for the ECD learners’ feeding programme and packs of sanitary wear. One of the schools will also be selected to receive an incubator for an income-generating project.
Chief Senator Mutasa further donated an internet Wi-Fi set to the District Education Offices.
In his donation address, Chief Senator Mutasa said:
“This is a culmination of what we discussed at the NetOne Album Marathon where I made a call to all successful business executives who come from Mutasa to lend a helping hand to the area they come from. There is more that is coming which I cannot divulge at this moment.
“This initiative has its backbone on President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s call that no place and no person must be left behind in the development trajectory of this country. We are aware of the electricity challenges that could be in some of these schools so we have made a provision for solar power to ensure that these laptops are functional. The idea going forward is that after the headmaster gets a laptop for school administrative work, we will move on to stage two where five laptops for learners will be donated to each school. I am really grateful to NetOne for their gesture.”
