CHIEF Maduna from Insiza District has urged plot holders from his area to establish agricultural businesses which will ensure that they are productive and contribute to the nation’s food security status.
Addressing villagers from Wanezi area during a meeting recently Chief Maduna said most villagers have either five or 10 hectares of land which if fully utilised can transform the district.
He said this is line with President Mnangagwa’s mantra- “ilizwe lakhiwa ngabantu balo/ nyika inovakwa nevenhe vayo.”
“I would like to urge you all to turn your plots into business enterprises. Let’s not only produce so that we can feed our families but let’s produce to sell. If we form cooperatives and work together we can put in place systems to produce and then collectively transport our produce to other districts for sale.
“Everyone here has either five or 10 hectares of land which means that we are sitting on gold. Let’s utilise this gold. This land that we have was obtained through bloodshed so that we could be empowered and develop. It’s high time that we bring the much needed empowerment by being productive,” he said
Chief Maduna urged farmers to utilise and embrace programme that have been rolled out by Government to equip farmers.
