Chief Wange installed

CHIEFS have been urged to seek guidance from the country’s economic blueprint Zim Asset in order for their communities to develop while complementing Government service delivery. In a speech read on his behalf by Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development, Dr Obert Mpofu, during the installation of Amos Chipaya Lusumbami as Chief Wange in Mashala, Hwange, the Minister of Local Government and National Housing, Dr Ignatius Chombo, said since chiefs were important units in development, communities needed to support them in order for their lives to improve.

“The chief should also be guided by the country’s economic blueprint, the Zimbabwe Agenda for Sustainable Socio-Economic Transformation in the prioritisation of the development projects in his community. This development framework is made in such a way that it keeps Government service delivery mechanisms relevant to communities and hence constant reference to such is necessary,” said Dr Mpofu.

He applauded the family members for the peace and unity that prevailed during the selection process as evidenced by minimum conflict experienced and challenged other chieftaincies to emulate the Chipayas.

The colourful event was attended by the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs in Matabeleland North, Cde Cain Mathema, the President of the Chiefs Council, Chief Charumbira, his deputy Chief Mtshana Khumalo, service chiefs, Matabeleland North Senator Chief Siansali, Government officials and captains of industry, among others.
