FOR a side that lost almost half of its squad from last season, Bulawayo Chiefs coach Lizwe Sweswe is pleased with how the Amakhosi rebuilding exercise is progressing.
Chiefs have collected one point in the two games they have played this season and are on position 12 on the 18-team log.
They drew 1-1 with a formidable Ngezi Platinum Stars outfit before losing 1-0 to ZPC Kariba at National Sports Stadium on Monday.
Prior to that, they were beaten 2-0 by FC Platinum in the Castle Challenge Cup final.
Sweswe, the man tasked with rebuilding the Chiefs side after a player exodus, is happy with his side’s progression thus far.
“So far so good. I think the combinations are coming up and I am happy with the squad,” said Sweswe.
Commenting on his side’s recent loss to ZPC Kariba on Monday afternoon, Sweswe said: “The boys played very well save for that mistake on transition, but it’s still a work in progress. Remember this is only the second game of the season for us. There are a lot of things to work on especially in terms of the conversion rate.”
Amakhosi Amahle’s next assignment will be against Black Rhinos at Luveve Stadium this Saturday. Bulawayo Chiefs won the last encounter played between the two sides at the same venue last season, winning 1-0.
Chiefs, in their rebuilding have brought in the likes of Dalubuhle Dlodlo and the vastly experienced duo of Danny Phiri and William Stima. They have also acquired the signature of veteran striker Kuda Musharu.
Bulawayo Chiefs lost the trio of Moyo twins Elvis and Kevin as well as Arthur “Diego” Musiyiwa to Dynamos, utility player Kelvin Madzongwe who found a home at Caps United as well as forward Perfect Chikwende who rejoined FC Platinum.
Attacking midfielder Hughe Chikosa is with Simba Bhora, with goalkeepers David Bizabani and Matripples Muleya moving to Green Fuel and Triangle United, respectively.
