Carl Joshua Ncube mourns late mother

IT has been a tough couple of months for comedian Carl Joshua Ncube after he was diagnosed with cellulitis, a common bacterial skin infection that causes redness, swelling, and pain in the infected area last year.

As if that was not enough angst, the comedian lost his mother Miriam Nyemba after a long battle with diabetes last Wednesday. She was laid to rest at Glen Forest Memorial Park in Harare over the weekend.

Recalling his late mother’s final moments, Carl Joshua who resides in Victoria Falls said: “We moved back home (Harare) a year ago because I was getting really ill. Both my mum and I are diabetic. I wasn’t worried about her. In fact, the night she died, we had come home with great news about the Innovation Hub that I planned on sharing with her. We had dinner during load-shedding and then went to bed.

“After a while, she then knocked on our door to tell us that power was back, but she was going to go to bed and not watch TV late like we normally do. The next morning, she was gone. That’s why this is so devastating and heartbreaking.”

Ever since her passing, Ncube has found it hard to cope but is grateful for the moments he shared with her.

“I’m struggling to come to terms with this, but I’m grateful. Thank you for raising and sacrificing for me, and for being the lioness that defended me. Thank you for being such an amazing single mother to two young boys, and for all the juggling you did.

“I am devastated. I am broken. I am hurting so much, I don’t even know what to do. I am waiting for you to tell me that you are no longer going to be around, my mind is unreasonable and unconvinced. My heart is distraught. It hurts mama, it hurts,” Ncube poured his heart out on a Facebook post. – @MbuleloMpofu
