from exploiting the country’s resources, traditional leaders in Mashonaland East province have said.
According to ZBC news, the traditional leaders made the remarks at a preparatory meeting for the launch of the Community Share Ownership Trust for the province at Mutawatawa growth point at the weekend.
The traditional leaders also threw their weight behind the indigenisation drive being spearheaded by the Government adding that they wanted greater participation in the whole process since they are custodians of the country’s natural resources.
“Saka isu toda kuti kana simba rapihwa kuna chairman, chairman anzi ndimambo, zvinhu zviri munzvimbo mamambo, hakuna anofanirwa kupikisa mambo zvaanenge ataura,” said Chief Svosve.
“Varikuramba kupinda muchirongwa ichi chekuti vabvisewo padiki pekuti mhuri dzese dzidye . . . Hakuna munhu achasevenza ipapo kusvika aita zvinhu zvataunganira pano kuti mhuri dzidye dzichiguta.”
Chief Chinhanga said traditional leaders were the custodians of all natural resources hence they were supposed to be in charge as provided by the community share ownership provisions.
Chief Mutekedza added that Zimbabweans were supposed to work together to achieve the goals of the empowerment drive.
Mashonaland East Provincial Governor Cde Aeneas Chigwedere called for an all-stakeholders approach so that the empowerment drive could be a success. He added that traditional leaders had been given authority over all natural resources.

Minister of State for State Security in the President’s Office Dr Sydney Sekeramayi said when God deposited all the natural resources that were found in Zimbabwe, He expected the resources to benefit Zimbabweans.
Lafarge Cement Zimbabwe pledged US$3 million to the share ownership trust while granite mining companies are in the process of finalising their contributions.
Minister Kasukuwere took a swipe at Metallon Gold Mine – owners of Acturus Gold Mine – for not complying with the indigenisation exercise.
President Mugabe has so far launched six Community Share Ownership Schemes that have been a success story in developing communities.
Some of the trusts include among others Chegutu-Mhondoro-Ngezi Zvimba Community Share Ownership Trust at Zimplats, Tongogara Community Share Ownership Trust at Unki Mine in Shurugwi, the Masvingo Community Share Ownership Trust, the Mashonaland Central Community Share Ownership Trusts and the Marange-Zimunya Community Share Ownership Trust. –
