TRADITIONAL leaders from Chimanimani District have applauded President Mnangagwa for appointing CdeNokhutula Matsikenyere as the Minister of State for Manicaland Provincial Affairs and Devolution.

Chiefs Chikukwa, Mutambara, Muusha, Ndima, Ngorima and Saurombe aired these sentiments on the sidelines of a welcome meeting they had with Minister Matsikenyere at her offices in Mutare on Wednesday.

Chief Saurombe said they were elated by the appointment of a minister from Chimanimani District.

“As the traditional leaders of Chimanimani representing the Chimanimani people, we are here to congratulate our daughter, the newly appointed Ministeron her appointment.

“We are elated that President Mnangagwa appointed our daughter to be at the helm of the province and in that regard we saw it fit to make a courtesy call to her office to officially welcome her,” he said.

The chiefs presented a goat to Minister Matsikenyere as a congratulatory present.

Chief Muusha said: “We hope for continuity on developmental projects in the district and the province at large. Before her death, the late Minister Ellen Gwaradzimba was working tirelessly towards the development of our district, which is a major tourist destination in the country.

“Tourists, both local and international, cannot fully enjoy the Chimanimani District hospitality if our roads are not maintained and rehabilitated. We know that Minister Matsikenyere will help us as she already knows about these challenges.”
