Chiefs will do well, says Katsande

WARRIORS’ defensive midfielder Willard “Salt and Vinegar” Katsande believes his team Kaizer Chiefs will do well this season.
He said competition for places among the players had already started under Stuart Baxter who is rumoured to soon take over the Bafana Bafana job.

Chiefs have a tough season ahead. They will want to restore lost pride after being pipped to the title by Mamelodi Sundowns despite leading for the better part of the campaign.

Katsande said their focus would be on addressing last year’s campaign shortcomings and gun for the league title.

Katsande  said: “My main objective this coming season is to help my team win the league which we surrendered to eventual winners Mamelodi Sundowns last season.

“What is to our advantage is that all players are this year more determined and fired up to see the team maintain its status in the PSL.
“I will definitely work on the mistakes which cost me the PSL Player of the Season and Players Player of the Season last season. I know I lost close contests in the individual prestigious awards on offer but one must not dwell in the past. My intention is to help the team win everything on offer,” he said.

The Warriors midfielder said they started their pre-season training three weeks ago.

Chiefs’ spokesperson Vina Maphosa said everything is well at his side.

Warriors’ Kingstone Nkhatha and Matthew Rusike are part of the Amakhosi team in pre-season camp.
