Chigono hopeful

soon after arriving in Bulawayo where she wanted to assess the course in a practice round yesterday, the golfer said she was feeling good and looking forward to the event.
“I am well prepared for the event and I hope I will play to the best of my ability,” said Chingono.
“The last time I did not do very well and I believe all will be well this time.
“There was a lot of organising in the last event the Wingate Trophy so it affected me but this time I will be just a player like everyone else.
“I have always been practising and my current form is good, I know anything can happen in the sport, but I look forward to a win.”
Chingono conceded that despite playing at Bulawayo Country Club for the first time, she would be comfortable. I had to come earlier and have the practice round so that I can have a clear map of the field but the good thing is I can quickly adapt, so a single round will help me before tomorrow’s game.
“As is always the case, Batsirai Tilowakuti remains my major threat.”
Matabeleland Strokeplay is the third major event on the Zimbabwe Ladies Golf Union calendar after the Mashonaland East and West Championships and the Inter-Provincials both held at Ruwa.
Yolanda Mubaiwa won the event last year and will be there to defend her title.
