SUPERSPORT United communications co-ordinator Koketso Gaofetoge has described Warriors goalkeeper George Chigova’s deal as the best signing of the season so far at the Absa Premier Soccer League team.He said Chigova’s sterling performance during the Chan tournament was impressive and Supersport was satisfied with his high work rate in the Zimbabwean squad.
Gaofetoge said United has been looking for a quality goalie that will push Ronwen Williams, Boalefa Pule and veteran goal-minder Rowen Fernandez.
“The Dynamos goalkeeper has been a centre of success in his team as they won the Zimbabwean championship last season and above all he has shown great qualities in top football after conceding few goals at the Chan. We are waiting for him at United and with his skills definitely he will make us proud in our quest for honours.”
Chigova has signed a three-year contract with the Pretoria outfit and will join United at the beginning of July. The Warriors shot stopper will join another former Dynamos player Kaitano Tembo who is the assistant coach at the team.
Other Zimbabweans who previously played for United are former Highlanders and Dynamos striker Makwinji Soma-Phiri and Simbarashe Sithole. Former Warriors goalkeeper Bruce Grobbelaar once served the team as its goalkeeper’s coach.
