officers should find joy in serving their country. The 355 recruits finished their six months training and are ready for deployment.
“They have to defend Zimbabwe for the benefit of all Zimbabweans. The bible says we must enjoy life in abundance but other people from overseas come and teach us the gospel that we must suffer on earth so that we can be rich in heaven. When we say that is not it by claiming what is rightfully ours they then impose sanctions on the country. So young people you must work hard in defending this nation because God rightly created it for us.
“Police officers must not allow thieves who come with the aim of looting the country’s resources and destroy their spirit of unity. Their presence must not cause decay but it must add value by utilising talent in them to improve situations and improve the nation as a whole,” he said.
Commissioner General Chihuri said police officers have to listen to the plight of people when serving in the police force.
“People misunderstand most things that I say and think I speak politics yet I will be telling the truth. For one to succeed in life, it is not determined by the kind of schools they attend. Most people boast having degrees yet their thinking is lopsided and they are the same people who ignore words that come from society and that is why they fall out of the people’s favour.
“When police officers are deployed, we need to assist each other in all fields and show the purpose of joining the Zimbabwe Republic Police and advance good relationship with the people and be disciplined instead of indulging in corrupt activities,” he said.
Comm Gen Chihuri said senior police officers must learn to appreciate the good things done by junior police officers countrywide.
